Emulation of Radio Technologies for Railways: A Tapped-Delay-Line Channel Model for Tunnels

Radio access technologies (RATs) are a key topic in railways, enabling them better service rendering terms of shorter headways between trains, higher safety levels and customer satisfaction. Very often, these railway RATs need lot time to be developed, tested put into service, which implies lack efficiency bottlenecks the evolution systems. To solve this situation, an emulation platform that considers both physical layer network (this is, able emulate end-to-end chain) is envisaged EmulRadio4Rail project. Therefore, many scenarios must emulated, remarkable challenge because railways very diverse. We see Tapped-Delay Lines (TDL) models as most efficient way for with available hardware. In literature, there TDL-based channel all we considered but one: tunnels. order fill gap, develop novel TDL model tunnels, considering impact rolling stock (both high-speed (HSR) subway trains). The proposed allows full characterization scenario power-delay-profile (PDP), Doppler spectrum fading characteristics.
